Polashek's Locker on "Bizarre Foods" Monday night

Polashek's Locker Service in Protivin will be featured on Andrew Zimmern's "Bizarre Foods" show Monday, Feb. 25.

The show, which was filmed in July, will air on the Travel Channel at 8 p.m.
According to Adam Polashek, Zimmern's show will feature him sampling head cheese, pickled pork hocks, pickled beef tripe and jaternice, a pork sausage typically made from pork liver, pork snouts and/or jowls ground together with spices and cereal.
According to Polashek, Zimmern and a film crew of around 10 people spent July 12 documenting the preparing and sampling of some of Polashek's award-winning sausage products. The locker's achievements include reserve champion in 2012 at the Best of Midwest Cured Meat Competition for their ring bologna and numerous awards for their lunch meat, jerky and "smokies" sausage at the annual Iowa Meat Convention.
In an interview with Decorah Newspapers last July, Polashek said, "He didn't spit any of it out. Zimmern and the film crew loved the jaternice, and they devoured the whole batch."
Founded in 1893 by Paul and Judy Polashek, the locker offers meat services including beef, pork and venison processing and retail sales. Their products are available at several local grocery stores.
