Pedestrian injured on Water Street released from hospital

A pedestrian injured on Water Street last Tuesday morning, Aug. 13, has been released from the hospital, according to officials at Winneshiek Medical Center.
According to Decorah Police, Patricia Starmer, 61, Norwalk, was standing near her vehicle on Water Street when she was struck by the rear door of a semi tractor trailer being driven by Ryan Weigel, 36, New Hampton, at about 10:44 a.m.
The rear door of the tractor trailer was loose and swung out, an accident report stated. Starmer was taken to Winneshiek Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. Weigel was charged with failure to secure vehicle equipment (cargo door).
The Decorah Police Department was assisted by the Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Winneshiek Medical Center Ambulance, Decorah Fire Department, Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department, Decorah Police 911 dispatchers and several First Responders.
Details of the accident were not released until Wednesday afternoon.
