The Decorah Parks and Recreation Board received so many suggestions for what to name a new park, it has decided to put it to a vote.
The Board had previously solicited input for the name of a new park located next to Will Baker Park on Pulpit Rock Road.
"We have narrowed it down to three options: Taverner's Fields, River Bend Fields and Will Baker Athletic Field," said Parks and Recreation Director Andy Nimrod.
He said his department plans to set up online voting in the near future with details to be announced.
In other matters, the Board heard a presentation on potential dog park locations from former city intern Sara Christopherson.
Nimrod said Christopherson presented two possible sites: Mary Christopher Park on Water St. and Miller Park, which is located in the northeast corner of Minowa Heights, adjacent to Siewers Spring Rd.
"There's an area there not being utilized. We mow it twice a year with a tractor," Nimrod said of Miller Park.
Nimrod said there is interest in a dog park and Christopherson is researching both cost estimates for fencing and opportunities for fundraising.
