Winneshiek County Public Health (WCPH) is accepting walk-in clients for flu vaccine Monday through Friday from 8 a.m to 4 p.m.
"It is not too late to receive the immunity from the vaccine," said Nancy Sacquitne, RN, BSN.
Influenza has been confirmed in Iowa and WCPH has heard reports of Winneshiek County residents experiencing influenza-like symptoms. These may include fever, chills, sore throat, muscle or body aches, fatigue or cough.
Complications from the flu may lead to pneumonia, bronchitis and sinus and ear infections. The flu can also worsen chronic health problems.
"The severity of the flu is unpredictable and can vary from one season to the next. Your best form of protection is the vaccination as well as getting adequate rest, good hand washing and good nutrition," said Sacquitne.
