There will be a new way for visitors to experience Decorah's annual Nordic Fest celebration this year.

Nordic Fest will offer downtown transportation service for Fest-goers with the Decorah Trolley Company's "Holly the Trolley," a convenient way for visitors to enjoy even more of the Fest.

The trolley will offer five pick-up locations throughout downtown Decorah and will run a continuous loop. Hours of service are Fri., July 26, from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sat., July 27, from noon - 5 p.m. Specific locations will be pinpointed on the fest map in the Nordic Fest official program guide.

Sponsored by Randy Olson and the Fest Board of Directors, shuttle rides are offered on a first-come-first serve basis and free-will donations will be accepted.

"Seniors have asked for transportation for years," said Sue Sander, Fest president. "It can be a long, hot walk for anyone, especially those with limitations, to walk nine blocks from Vesterheim to the antique show (located at the Decorah Middle School)."

The Fest Board hopes this new service will allow everybody to easily enjoy all aspects of the festival, regardless of location and warm temperatures.

In addition to the downtown trolley, Luther College will again be offering free van shuttles to and from central campus to allow fest goers convenient parking. Van shuttles run Friday and Saturday.
