"May the Norsk Be With You" is the theme for the 48th annual Nordic Fest set for July 24-26, 2014.

(According to Wikipedia, norsk is the official language of Norway.)

"We are excited to incorporate this theme into all aspects of next year's event," said Randy Schissel, Fest president. "The committee typically selects a message that represents the Norwegian identity in a fun and lighthearted way."

Each year several theme suggestions are submitted and discussed by the Nordic Fest Board. Once a selection is made, the committee begins to creatively include the theme on buttons, programs and merchandise, all available weeks prior to the event.

Residents and businesses will be encouraged to decorate window displays, porches or gardens utilizing the theme.

As always, the popular Nordic Fest parade encourages all entries to use the theme.

"This year's parade will have a new twist," said Schissel. "As an added incentive, there will be a contest for the best float, as it relates to the theme."

Contest award and prizes will be announced at a later date but local businesses are encouraged to start thinking about their entry.
