The National Weather service in La Crosse has issued a winter storm advisory for heavy snow in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday for an area which includes Decorah and Winneshiek County.
Snow will develop across the area Tuesday night and continue into Wednesday. The heaviest snow will fall from midnight into Wednesday morning.
Six to nine inches of snow will fall southeast of New Hampton to Neillsville Wisconsin line. Blowing snow is possible Wednesday, especially in open areas and over the higher terrain, leading to reduced visibilities.
Treacherous driving conditions are expected Tuesday night into Wednesday due to a combination of the lingering water on roadways freezing up, accumulating snow and then the blowing snow. The morning commute on Wednesday could be very difficult, according to the NWS statement.
