Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) will hold spring commencement for the Calmar campus graduates Thursday, May 16, at Decorah High School.

The graduation includes Fall 2012, Spring 2013 and Summer 2013 graduates. At the Calmar campus, 201 graduates are participating in the ceremony. NICC Trustee Gene Fuelling, of Oelwein, will give the welcome address. John Condon, an industrial technology teacher at Decorah High School and an NICC alumnus, will give the keynote address.

Condon, of Decorah, earned his Industrial Technology Education degree through the 2+2 program between Upper Iowa University and NICC in 1999 after completing NICC degrees in the carpentry and industrial electrician programs. He has taught industrial technology students at Decorah High School for 13 years. He and his wife Teresa, a Spanish teacher for Waukon High School, formed their own band in 1990, the Buck Hollow Band. The duo has performed over 3,000 dances and shows, and has played for audiences in Southeastern Minnesota, Northeast Iowa, Western Wisconsin and Texas.

Christopher Fassbender, Calmar campus iMPACT president, will deliver the student address. He is graduating with an Associate of Science degree this spring and attended 2012 and 2013 spring break service trips to Nashville, Tenn., and Washington, D.C, as a student volunteers. Fassbender also serves as the student representative on the College Senate, the Diversity Council and the Counseling Department Review Committee and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. After graduation, he plans to transfer to Luther College to pursue a degree in the medical field.
