A man stranded on his car in floodwaters was rescued early Sunday morning.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department received a call from Brenden Curtin of rural Decorah at about 3:30 a.m. Curtin said he had not seen water running over 337th Street north of Decorah and after he entered the water, his vehicle stalled. Curtin climbed onto the trunk as it began to float crossways in the road.

Members of the Decorah Fire Department rescued Curtin from his vehicle, which came to rest on the roadway; he was not injured.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department was assisted by the Decorah Fire Department, Winneshiek County Ambulance Service, Winneshiek County Engineer's office and Bill's Auto Repair and Towing.
