The Winneshiek Sheriff's Department received a 911 call Friday reporting a man found in the water near the Highlandville campground.

The 83-year-old from the Zearing, Iowa area had been camping for the weekend with family members. He reportedly left the campsite to go fishing and had not been seen for about an hour. He was found in the water unresponsive.

The man was transported to the Winnshiek Medical Center and later to the state Division of Criminal Investigation lab for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The incident is being investigated as an accident.
