In the hustle and bustle of daily business it's easy to overlook some of the area's hardest workers-the cows (and their farmers).

The DACC celebrates Dairy Month with the ag committee's annual dairy appreciation luncheon Monday, June 17, at noon.

The Sacquitne family will host the DACC for a picnic luncheon on their farm at 2739 Clay Hill Road (just two miles north of Decorah). The Sacquitnes (Lorraine and family: Bruce, Doris, Lois and Gary) milk in a traditional 30-stall stanchion barn.

"The past few years the ag committee has been hosted by farms with brand new technology and milking systems, but it's important to remember that a large portion of dairy farmers are supporting the local agriculture economy in the same way they have done for decades," said a representative of the ag committee in a press release.

The menu includes burgers from the Spillville Locker, sides from U-2 BBQ & Catering and ice cream treats from WW Homestead Dairy.

To sign up for the luncheon, visit and click on "Events" or call the DACC at 563-382-3990. The DACC Ag Committee is proud to partner with local agriculture businesses, and looks forward to celebrating June Dairy Month at the Sacquitne farm.
