The first and organizing meeting of the Winneshiek County Single Women's Social Network is a potluck at Pat Brockett's house, Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m.
The purpose of the group is to expand the social network of single women of all ages living in Winneshiek County.
According to Brockett, "After losing my longtime spouse, a recurring issue has been not having someone to go to events with, help with small household tasks requiring more than just my two hands, and all those other things that were never a problem when there were two of us. Being single, whether through death, divorce or not marrying through choice or circumstance, can be lonely and I know that there are others out there who are experiencing the same things I am. So why not help each other."
Members of the group will be given access to a member only website on which to post what they need. Other members can look at the postings and choose to respond or not. Access to the website can only be granted by Brockett to protect the privacy of the members.
Anyone interested in attending the potluck or getting more information, call Brockett at 563-277-1054.
