Certified Respite Options of NE Iowa is seeking volunteers willing to be trained to provide respite care for children and youth in area foster homes.

Respite care provides foster parents with a break from the day-to-day challenges of foster parenting and allows them to participate in events or accomplish tasks they cannot do when accompanied by their foster children.

Potential respite providers must be able to pass child abuse and criminal records checks and be willing to attend two days of initial training Saturday, Sept. 14, and Saturday, Sept. 28, in Decorah.

Respite providers receive a small stipend for each day they provide respite as well as assistance with their mileage expenses.
