American Red Cross volunteer Gail Howatt of Decorah is being deployed to help victims of Hurrican Sandy.

She is heading to New Brunswick, NJ to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Since becoming a Tri-County Red Cross volunteer six years ago, Howatt, a registered nurse who works at the Cresco Medical Clinic, has been deployed five or six times.

Howatt said while she never knows what exactly she will be doing until she gets there, she will be working in some sort of health service capacity, in a shelter, first aid station, or possibly doing in-home visits.
