Decorah man dies after accident in Dubuque

Arnold Fortman, 57, Decorah, died from injuries he suffered in an accident late Monday morning.
According to Dubuque County authorities, Fortman was operating a semi with a dump trailer owned by Bruening Rock Products of Decorah at the River City Stone Quarry near Dubuque. Fortman was dumping a load of recycled asphalt from his truck when he drove the truck forward to dump the remaining asphalt and the truck rolled over onto its side.
Fortman was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque where he was pronounced dead.
The Dubuque Police Department assisted the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department at the scene. Also responding were firefighters from Dubuque and Asbury, and the Dubuque County Medical Examiner’s office. The accident remains under investigation.
