The Decorah Education Association (DEA) has requested a 5.25 percent increase in the salary/benefits package for teachers.
The Decorah teachers' union made its initial master contract proposal during a special Decorah School Board meeting Thursday. The Decorah School Board will make its counter proposal during a Board meeting Friday, March 15, at 3:15 p.m.
The DEA proposal includes an $895 increase in teachers' base pay, and the package increase includes non-salary increases in health insurance costs and the Iowa Public Employees' Retirement System. Total cost of the proposal is $455,687.
