Condition of pedestrian injured in Tuesday accident unavailable

Winneshiek Medical Center officials contacted Wednesday were not able to provide a condition report on a pedestrian injured on Water Street Tuesday morning.
According to Decorah Police, Patricia Starmer, 61, Norwalk, was standing near her vehicle on Water Street when she was struck by the rear door of a semi tractor trailer being driven by Ryan Weigel, 36, New Hampton at about 10:44 a.m.
The rear door of the tractor trailer was loose and swung out, striking Starmer, an accident report stated.
Starmer was taken to Winneshiek Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. Weigel was charged with failure to secure vehicle equipment (cargo door).
The Decorah Police Department was assisted by the Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Winneshiek Medical Center Ambulance, Decorah Fire Department, Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department, Decorah Police 911 dispatchers and several First Responders.
Details of the accident were not released until Wednesday afternoon.
