Calmar woman killed in Friday afternoon motorcycle accident

A Friday afternoon accident in the Highway 52 construction zone resulted in a fatality.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Jay Jermier, 45, Decorah, was northbound on his motorcycle two miles north of Calmar at about 4 p.m. when he crossed into the southbound lane, losing control. His passenger, Trish Taylor, 44, Calmar, was killed.
The State Patrol accident report said due to the construction, the road surface was uneven. Jermier was transported by ambulance to Winneshiek Medical Center where he was treated and released.
The accident remains under investigation. The Patrol was assisted by the Winneshiek County Ambulance, Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department, Calmar Fire Department, Calmar Police Department, South Winn First Responders and the Decorah Police Department.
