ArtHaus hosts its annual homebrew competition Friday, July 5, 7-9 p.m., in the ArtHaus Studio Courtyard next to Vesterheim Museum.
The event is sponsored by From Grain to Glass and Toppling Goliath, with live music provided by the indie rock trio, Faust and Field.
The public is invited to sample and vote for local brews in a mystery beer tasting while guest judges Chad Opfer from Toppling Goliath, Brad Balk of From Grain to Glass and Kevin Roberts of Abu Nawas Beverage Company also weigh in on their favorites.
Prizes from Toppling Goliath and From Grain to Glass will be awarded to the homebrew competition winners, and Toppling Goliath will be on hand with a few samples of their own to share.
Members of the indie rock trio, Faust and Field are recent transplants to Decorah from San Francisco and Minneapolis. Jason Faust (North to Alaska, Faustio and the Beat Army) and Micah Merrifield (North to Alaska, The Occasions) have been playing together off and on for ten years, and are now joined by drummer Nick Hirka, offering infection beats and original tunes.
Tickets are $7. No reservations necessary, though brewers are encouraged to register their homebrews in advance and will receive free admission for their donated entries.
