Alpha Sigma Sorority Pie sale benefits Monroe children

The Alpha Sigma Sorority's annual pie bake and turkey giveaway will benefit Makinzie and Parker Monroe, the children of Amy Monroe.

Amy is a single parent who is currently battling Stage 4 breast cancer with skin metastasis on her back.
"Amy is a single parent and has received the wonderful support from the community and of her family and friends who are helping to take care of her children during this difficult time," said Dawn Sanderman of Alpha Sigma.
Makinzie is a 14-year-old student in the 9th grade at Decorah High School. She plays the French horn in the DHS band, sings in the chorus, is a member of 4-H and loves playing socier, She also loves the arts and has performed in many New Minowa Players productions in the area.
Parker is turning 12-year-old and is a sixth grader at Decorah Middle Schol. He plays the trombone in the DMS band, is a member of 4-H, loves playing football, wrestling and hunting and farming with his grandfather.
Alpha Sigma will take orders for pumpkin pies, $8, and pecan pies, $10, until Nov. 15.

Cash donations are also accepted and everyone who purchases a pie will be entered into a drawing from Quillins to win one of three turkey dinner and grocery door prizes.
"Please help us shine a little light on these children's future," added Sanderman.
