'Christmas at Luther' performances Nov. 29- Dec. 2 at CFL

Luther College will present the 2012 production of its nationally acclaimed "Christmas at Luther" concert Nov. 29- Dec. 2 in the Center for Faith and Life.
Moving holiday music, over 600 musicians, and glowing candlelight capture the wonder and joy of the season as Luther College's music ensembles mark 31 years of sharing the seasonal gift of music with their annual concert.
The visual power and majesty of the celebration will be presented to television audiences by Twin Cities Public Television in high-definition and 5.1 Dolby surround sound.
The concert will be broadcast at 7 p.m. Central Sunday, Dec. 23 on most PBS stations nationwide.

The concert presents traditional holiday carols and sacred Christmas choral anthems.
Christmas at Luther's powerful and moving music is complemented by the magnificence of the Center for Faith and Life in its Christmas decoration and the choreography of the ensembles.
The concert includes performances by Nordic Choir under the direction of Allen Hightower, Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Daniel Baldwin, Cantorei under the direction of Linda Martin, Cathedral Choir and Aurora under the direction of Sandra Peter, Collegiate Chorale and Norsemen under the direction of Andrew Last and Luther Ringers under the direction of Gregory Peterson.
Organist is Gregory Peterson. Ann Sponberg Peterson is the narrator.
All tickets for the 2012 "Christmas at Luther" performances have been sold. Each year, more than 8,000 people attend the Christmas performances on the Luther campus.
The program will air several times on PBS during the holiday season as a one-hour Christmas special through Twin Cities Public Television, after resounding positive response from TPT's 2008 taping of "Christmas at Luther," Diane Steinbach says "We have a proud tradition and we are known and respected for our artistic productions of Christmas festivals. We all enjoy working together to bring inspiring music programs to broad audiences and we are thrilled to be working on our second production of Christmas at Luther."
Filmed and produced by Twin Cities Public Television, the 2008 concert production won a regional Emmy award for TPT for "Best Special Event Coverage" program. It was broadcast nationwide on more than 100 public television stations in December 2008 as a PBS Holiday Special.
Luther College is a liberal arts college with a long and internationally recognized tradition of excellence in music education and performance. Luther has one of the largest and most highly regarded collegiate music programs in the nation.
Nearly 1,000 student musicians participate in the college's six choirs, three bands, three orchestras and two jazz bands. In addition to large musical ensembles, students are involved in opera, faculty-coached chamber ensembles, master classes and private lessons.
