Area schools have scheduled activities each day during Catholic schools week.

St. Benedict's Catholic School, Decorah

Sunday, Jan. 26: Students lead 10 a.m. Mass at St. Benedict Church, with a reception following in the parish hall.

Monday, Jan. 27: The theme is "Celebrate Students." Grades k-3 have sledding (students bring their own sleds). Grades 4 - 5 have snowshoeing. Grades 6 - 8 have cross country skiing. Students receive and start praying for prayer partners. (These activities were postponed, due to weather-related school cancellation.)

Tuesday, Jan 28: The theme is "Celebrate Service." Students bring in gently used toys to be donated to the Depot and Goodwill.

Wednesday, Jan. 29: The theme is "Celebrate Community." Students will make prayer cards for a variety of organizations.

Thursday, Jan. 30: The theme is "Celebrate our School Community." Student prayer partners will get together to share and pray.

Friday, Jan. 31: The theme is "Celebrate Faith and Knowledge." A 9 a.m. Mass at school is led by the student council. Star Lab for all grades is led by Mrs. Franzen and 8th grade students.



DeSales Catholic School, Ossian

Monday, Jan. 27: De Sales R.O.C.K.S. Students will participate in center activities that address the positive behaviors of respect, organization, cooperation, kindness and safety. It's also "crazy hair" day.

Tuesday, Jan. 28: Kindergarten Day, with a schedule for all that includes snack and choice time. It's also sports/accessory day.

Wednesday, Jan. 29: Talent Show. It's also twin day.

Thursday, Jan. 30: Mass at 9:30 a.m. It's also De Sales shirt day. A soup supper is served from 5-8 p.m., with homemade cream of broccoli and chicken noodle soup, chili, cinnamon rolls, bread, and bars. The event also includes games, a cake walk and a quilt raffle.

Friday, Jan. 31: Jammin' Dance Party. It's also PJ's or "comfy clothes" day.



Trinity Catholic School, Protivin

Sunday, Jan. 26: Mass at St. John at 8 a.m., and an omelet breakfast at Fort Atkinson from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Monday, Jan. 27: The focus is on art, and it is Team Pride Day. An art activity is led by Mrs. Singewald at 9 a.m. in the Community Center, with board games to follow.

Tuesday, Jan. 28: The focus is on music, and it is Pajama Day. Lunch will be eaten in family groups. "The Music Man" will be shown, with popcorn, to grades four through six at 11 a.m. "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" will be shown, with popcorn, to grades kindergarten through third, at 11 a.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 29: The focus is on reading, and it is Trinity Shirt Day. A Reader's Theatre is at 10:30 a.m. in the community center. There is early dismissal today.

Thursday, Jan. 30: The focus is on religion, and it is Dress Up Day. Rebekah and Kay Shindelar will visit with students to share their experience of a trip to Haiti. The students also will create placemats and center pieces to give to the care center.

Friday, Jan. 31: The focus is physical education, and it is Sweats Day. A field trip to the Cresco Fitness Center for swimming, volleyball and basketball is from 10:45 a.m.-2:45 p.m. Lunch is catered by Pizza Hut at 11:15. Students should bring a drink (sodas are acceptable today). Everyone is welcome to join the studens at the Fitness Center, but they need to let the school know if you they will be eating.



CFS Catholic School, Calmar

Monday, Jan. 27: "Crazy socks day." Kick-off activity is "Ten reasons Why We Love CFS."

Tuesday, Jan. 28: "Mis-match (nutty) outfit day."

Wednesday, Jan. 29: "Color day." Students wear as much of an assigned color as possible.

Thursday, Jan. 30: A 9 a.m. mass in Spillville is followed by a reception in the gym, with Bingo in the gym until lunch. All-school lunch is at 11 a.m.; after lunch is a partner read. At 12:30, students will watch a movie in the gym with popcorn and drinks. Kids can bring pillows and blankets.

Friday, Jan. 31: "Twin/triplet day."
