The annual Mardi Gras festival invites kids and adults of all ages to join in the fun Sunday, March 2, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at St. Benedict School, 402 Rural Avenue in Decorah.

A kids' carnival with games and prizes sponsored by Viking State Bank and the Mike and Jennie Murphy Family, a bouncy house sponsored by Ameriprise and Heather Adam, temporary tattoos, bags of popcorn sponsored by Ameriprise, Bingo for all ages, silent auction baskets, raffle and food are part of the day's events.

The a-la-carte menu includes slices of Mabe's pizza, homemade bars, and beverages sponsored by Mabe's Pizza, St. Ben's families and Decorah Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Bob Stalberger.

The festival is highlighted by a raffle, featuring an xBox One with extra controller sponsored by Dr. Randy Olson, DDS and an iPad donated by Sim's TV and Electronics, Ryan and Amy Christensen. Other great prizes include a two-night double suite Wilderness Resort stay with waterpark passes at the Dells donated by Schluter-Balik Funeral Home and JB Holland Construction, a child's bicycle donated by Decorah Bicycles, a weekend stay in Bear Creek Cabin's Brookside donated by West Side Dental, $250 Chamber Bucks sponsored by Hacker, Nelson and Co., $200 in Scrip Gift Cards donated by the Chris and Rhonda Storlie family, Mabe's Pizza for a Year sponsored by A Perfect House Realty and Jeff's Auto Repair, $100 cash donated by Viking Realtors and a $100 gift certificate to Albert's sponsored by Weis Buick, GMC.

Raffle tickets are $1 each and can be purchased in the school office or from St. Benedict School students. There will be hundreds of prizes to be won at Bingo, the silent auction, and the kid's games. Various businesses and individuals have donated prizes for Bingo and the kid's games as well.

The silent auction will feature theme baskets created by the families and staff of St. Benedict School including: Decorah Fun Local Attraction, Girl Power, Boy Oh Boy, Snack Shack, Cooking With Kids, Fisherman's Dream, Let's Get Gardening, Grilled to Perfection, Pamper Yourself, Car Care, Mexican Fiesta, Movies and Munchies, and Let's Do Coffee.

Funds raised from this year's event will go toward technology updates and building improvements at the school. The St. Benedict School Parent School Association (PSA) is organizing the event. Members of the 2013-2014 PSA are Tony and Kelly Coppola, Doug and Sarah Groux, Ross and Nori Hadley, Darin and Sarah Monroe, Jim Myers, Mindy Myers and Ben and Laura Thorson.
