Decorah Congregational United Church of Christ (UCC) will hold the installation of a new minister, Reverend Laura Arnold, Sunday, April 28, at 4:30 p.m.
Rev. Arnold is the 23rd called minister to serve Decorah UCC. She comes from Atlanta, Ga., where she served as a hospital chaplain and an associate minister for the UCC's Southeast Conference. The formal installation of a pastor in a local UCC Church is a public celebration and ritual that confirms the completion of the search and call of a new minister and is a re-affirmation of the covenantal relationship with all the UCC churches in the association and the conference. It also declares the union of the minister and the local congregation democratically working together in the journey of faith.
Rev. Arnold's installation service is in the church's sanctuary beginning at 4:30 p.m. Participating in the service are ministers from other denominations in Decorah and the Iowa UCC Conference. Following the installation service is a light meal in the Congregational Center.
This is a public event to help celebrate and welcome Pastor Arnold's ministry in Decorah. Friends and neighbors in the community are invited to attend.
