July is National Park and Recreation Month and this year’s theme is ‘OUT is IN.’
The Decorah Parks and Recreation Department is inviting the public to get outside during the month of July by participating in a photo contest to show others how they spend their time in Decorah’s parks.
Each week will feature one of Decorah’s parks. Contest participants are encouraged to take time during the week to explore the park and photograph the uniqueness of that outdoor area. Photos should be submitted via e-mail to recreation@decorahia.org or dropped off at the Park-Rec office.
Featured parks are listed below and photos must be submitted by noon on Monday of the following week to be entered in the photo contest. Each week a “best photo” will be chosen and will be printed as a postcard that will be sold throughout the season at the campground. Winners will be announced on Facebook and will be printed in Decorah Newspapers at the end of the month.
Individuals of all ages are eligible to participate. Contest participants are limited to one photo submission per week. By submitting a photo, the photographer agrees to give Decorah Parks & Recreation the right to use that photo.
Featured Parks include:
• Phelps Park, week of July 7 (photos due July 14)
• Will Baker Park & Pulpit Rock, week of July 14 (photos due July 21)
• Twin Springs Park, week of July 21 (photos due July 28)
