Hove's Harmonizers play at barn dance

EIGHTY YEARS AGO: Hove's Harmonizers will be playing dance music at the Owen Barn located one-half mile north of Frankville. This is the opening barn dance of the season.
...A class of 59 graduates crossed the stage at Luther College recently. Of the graduates, 24 were from Minnesota, 12 were from Iowa, nine from Wisconsin, six from South Dakota, and four from North Dakota. There were one each from Michigan, Illinois, California and Texas.
...Sixty-six local pupils will receive their eighth grade diplomas here this week. Among the local honorees are Franklin Beard, Hubert Woldum, Janann Downie, Lucile Vikre, Dorothy Holmberg, Jean White, Gail Wepler, Helen Fulsaas, Betty Jewell, Edward Omdahl and Ruby Severson.
...The Northern Winneshiek County Temperance Rally was last Sunday night at the Silver Creek Pavilion at Burr Oak. A large attendance was recorded.
...Harley Fagerlie, age 6, who lives on Mechanic Street, was saved from drowning the other afternoon after he fell in the creek in the south part of town. His playmate, Merlin Williams, age 9, jumped in the water and pulled Harley to the shore.
...Several locals have plans to attend the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. Parents who attend the fair may leave their children at a five-acre wonderland called "Enchanted Island" while attending other exposition attractions at the Chicago Fair. It is interesting to note than low fares are being advertised on the Milwaukee Railroad for the fair. Tickets about one penny per mile (round trip). Avoid the traffic jams by taking the train coaches.
...The Citizens State Bank over at Ossian is expected to re-open soon.
