Consumer Credit Counselor

Description: This position requires computer skills and good communication skills. The ability to speak professionally to consumers is crucial to the consumer credit industry as we are informing consumers the status of their accounts and counseling them as to the next steps in preparing for payment arrangements. All employees are drug tested and background check prior to starting.
Professional collectors will attend a paid training course in our office to prepare them with the tools they need to document accounts correctly and communicate effectively with consumers. Employees communicate by receiving inbound calls and making outbound calls for accounts that our clients have requested our professional accounts receivable services. Duties include receiving payment and posting amount to customer's account, preparing statements to credit department if customer fails to respond, and keeping records of collection, documentation, and status of accounts.
Employees create their own schedule of 40 hours every week but are required to work one evening until 8:00 pm as well as one evening until 6 pm. In addition, all employees work 4 hours of weekend work each month.
The pay is an hourly wage plus monthly commissions. The first year average earnings in this position are $18,720-$34,800. We also promote from within for all supervisory and management positions. Bilingual speakers are encouraged to apply.

Part-time Directorship: The Oneota Film Festival is looking for a Decorah area resident who wants to work with a dedicated, working Board and enthusiastic volunteers to plan and execute several film events in the community through the year, culminating with the 2016 Oneota Film Festival, a multi-day event on the Luther Campus. The Festival is tentatively scheduled for March 4, 5, and 6, 2016.

The position is a flex-time, part-time Directorship. There are many hours of work to be done in the weeks before and after the Festival (March 4-6, 2016), but the working times during the rest of the year are very flexible. The Board meets with the director bi-weekly during the spring and summer and  weekly fall and winter. Meetings are usually about one hour to 1.5 hours long. Agendas are set by the Board President with input of the Director. Compensation for an independent renewable contract is being offered. Bonuses for increased fund-raising may be available. Director will provide own insurance, transportation, computer, and work space.
