College Archivist: Luther College is accepting applications for the position of College Archivist. The successful candidate will lead development and implementation of college archival and records management programs, share responsibility for defining and delivering research-based services to the faculty, students, and staff, and provide other services related to the history and documentation of Luther College and the greater Luther community. The College Archivist is a member of the Library Staff within Library and Information Services.
Responsibilities of the Archivist include collecting and caring for Archives materials that can be used to support the academic mission of Luther College as an undergraduate institution of higher education; working with faculty on course-related collections instruction; training students and researchers in archival research practices; providing reference and research assistance; and managing and staffing the Archives Reading Room, the public service point in Preus Library.
Qualified candidates will have a master's degree in library and information science or archival studies from an ALA-accredited program, or related field; experience with metadata for and preservation of digitized and/or born digital materials; and familiarity with professional standards and emerging technologies in archives and archival practice. Other preferred qualifications include significant experience in a college archives setting; affinity for the instructional goals and student experience found in a residential liberal arts college; experience working with archival materials for instruction and outreach; supervisory experience; experience and skill in outreach and relationship building, leadership, team-building, and collaborative work; vision and experience in quality customer service and support; advanced analytical and problem solving skills and organizational, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and with a project team.
