The Board of Directors of the Oneota Film Festival (OFF) announced that it is seeking a Director of the Festival. The 2014 festival marks the fifth season of this annual event.

The director oversees the preparation for and running of the entire festival, a three-day event in Decorah traditionally held in January. Duties include event planning and coordination, liaison with the board, volunteer recruitment and deployment and fundraising.

"We are seeking an energetic film-lover who has a talent for organizing and producing events," said Nancy Sojka, who sits on the Oneota Film Festival board of directors. "This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be at the center of one of the most exciting winter happenings in the area. The director 'runs the show' and is supported by a working board."

In its first four years the Festival has become known for screening new, top flight documentary films while bringing some of the nation's best documentary filmmakers to discuss their work and interact with audiences.

Each year OFF attracts audiences and filmmakers from the upper Midwest and beyond. Besides screening films, some of which will receive Academy Award nominations or have just been premiered at Toronto, London, Berlin or other international film festivals, OFF interweaves discussions and social functions throughout the three-day festival. Two sets of juried submissions and a student workshop that produces films round out the festival.

The director position is part time and begins July 1 or when the position is filled.

Qualifications for the director include successful experience planning, organizing and implementing public events.

Interested persons should send their resume and cover letter to Nancy Sojka, P.O. Box 15, Decorah, IA 52101 or president@oneotafilmfestival.org.

Oneota Film Festival is a non-profit corporation formed by local film enthusiasts, representatives of Luther College and Decorah Public Library. It is hosted by Luther College. OFF operates as a charitable non-profit under a fiscal agency agreement with the Driftless Art Collective.
