Norwegian Anne Elisebeth Skogen will give a storytelling performance, "With Restauration Through Hell Gate to the Promised Land," at Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10.
The presentation will be in the museum's Bethania Church at 113 North Mill Street.
Skogen will tell the story of the first Norwegian group of emigrants who arrived in New York Oct. 9, 1825.
"They came in the boat 'Restauration,' often called the 'Norwegian Mayflower,'" said Martha Griesheimer, event organizer. During her presentation, Skogen will follow the emigrants' lives as they decide to leave their home country; cross the Atlantic; pass through "Hell Gate," the tidal strait in New York's East River; arrive in New York; and travel to Kendall on Lake Ontario.
Admission is a free will offering.
