Area artists are invited to attend the inaugural meeting of the Artists' Critique Group Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m. at the Decorah Public Library.
The idea behind the group is to bring artists together who are doing original drawings, paintings, collage, printmaking, sculpture, works in clay and bas-relief. Since many artists work alone, the monthly sessions are meant to provide perceptions of and feedback to artist's work from other artists in attendance and offer constructive reviews.
Artists are invited to bring and talk briefly about one to three new pieces of their work. The group is invited to offer constructive feedback, with the focus always on sympathetic criticism and the desire to help each other move forward with their art.
Artists working in large sculpture and conceptual art should bring photographs and/or drawings of their work instead of objects.
After the first few sessions, works of art presented should be recently completed, preferably within the month between meetings. Works in progress also are welcome.
Artists including students from any locale are welcome.
Meetings will be the first Tuesday of the month unless they fall on a holiday.
The forum will not last more than two hours. There is no charge or pre-registration.
