ArtHaus, Decorah's home for the visual, performing and literary arts, is now accepting registration for all winter classes and workshops, including several new art classes for adults.

Beginners and more experienced artists will have an opportunity to work from both still life and live models in "Drawing and Painting From Life," an eight-week class beginning Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 6:30 p.m.

For adult learners who prefer a daytime class, ArtHaus offers "Water-based Painting and Print Techniques," an eight-week class beginning Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 10 a.m. Students will explore water-based painting and drawing materials to create mixed media drawings and experiment with simple print techniques to add texture and depth. This course is tailored to suit any level.

In "Modern Sewing: You Make the Rules," teaching artist Rachelle Branum leads students in an improvisational sewing technique inspired by crazy quilts and color theory. This eight-week class is open to all skill levels and begins Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 6:30 p.m.

Details are available in the ArtHaus winter/spring calendar, available on-line at arthausdecorah.org and at several downtown locations including Decorah Public Library, Oneota Community Co-op, the Chamber of Commerce, Java John's, the Magpie and in the milk box in front of ArtHaus, located at 508 W. Water Street.
